Whole-House Air Filtration
Installation in Southern NH
A.J. LeBlanc Heating installs Aprilaire media filters, electronic air cleaners, UV air purifiers, and HEPA filtration across Southern NH. Family-owned since 1928. Every install includes properly sized cabinets, static pressure verification, and our workmanship warranty.
Filter Options We Install
High-Efficiency Media Filters
4-inch and 5-inch pleated media filters (MERV 11 to 16) catch far more particles than standard 1-inch filters and last 6 to 12 months between changes. The best upgrade for most Southern NH homes.
Electronic Air Cleaners
Aprilaire electronic air cleaners use charged plates to attract and capture particles. No filter replacement needed. You just wash the collector cells. Excellent for smoke and fine dust in NH homes.
UV Air Purifiers & Reme Halo
UV-C light and RGF Reme Halo whole-house purifiers install directly in the ductwork to neutralize mold, bacteria, viruses, and odors as air passes by. We often pair them with a media filter for comprehensive indoor air treatment.
Whole-House HEPA
True HEPA filtration removes 99.97 percent of particles down to 0.3 microns. Overkill for most homes, but ideal for Southern NH allergy or asthma sufferers.

Why Whole-House Filtration Works Better
A standard 1-inch filter sitting in the return vent is designed mainly to protect your furnace or air handler, not to clean your home's air. A whole-house filter installed by A.J. LeBlanc Heating is thicker (4 to 5 inches), set in a dedicated cabinet, and uses far more filter media. The result is more particles captured, less airflow restriction, and a filter you change a couple times a year instead of every month.
- Replaces existing filter rack with high-efficiency cabinet
- MERV 11, 13, or 16 media options depending on your needs
- Works with any forced-air heating or cooling system
- Filter changes twice a year instead of monthly
- Pairs well with UV air purifiers for comprehensive treatment
- Lower pressure drop than cheap 1-inch filters, which improves HVAC efficiency
Air Filtration Brands
A.J. LeBlanc Heating installs many whole-house air filtration brands across Southern NH, including Honeywell, Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Trion, and RGF Reme Halo whole-house UV purifiers. Aprilaire is featured here because it is the brand we install most often.
Air Filtration FAQ
What is MERV rating?
MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) rates how well a filter catches particles. Standard 1-inch filters are MERV 6 to 8. Whole-house filters typically range from MERV 11 (good) to MERV 16 (excellent). Higher is generally better, but very high MERV ratings can restrict airflow on systems not designed for them. A.J. LeBlanc Heating sizes accordingly for your Southern NH system.
Will a high-efficiency filter hurt my HVAC system?
No, as long as it is sized right. A 4 or 5-inch thick media filter has far more surface area than a 1-inch filter, so even at MERV 13 the airflow restriction is usually lower than a dirty 1-inch filter. We verify static pressure after installation in every Southern NH home.
How often do I change the filter?
Most whole-house media filters last 6 to 12 months depending on home conditions (pets, dust, local pollen). Electronic air cleaners never need replacement. You just wash the collector cells every few months.
Will this help with allergies?
For most Southern NH allergy sufferers, yes. A MERV 13 or higher filter captures the majority of pollen, dust mite debris, and pet dander. For severe allergies, combining whole-house filtration with UV treatment and regular duct cleaning can dramatically reduce symptoms.
