HRV & ERV Systems We Install
Lifebreath HRV (Heat Recovery)
An HRV transfers heat between the incoming fresh air and the outgoing stale air. Fresh air arrives pre-warmed in winter, which reduces the load on your heating system. The right choice for drier Southern NH homes where you do not want to retain summer humidity.

An ERV transfers both heat and moisture between the two air streams. It keeps the home from drying out in winter and prevents excess outdoor humidity from entering in summer. The right fit for most tightly sealed Southern NH homes.

A.J. LeBlanc Heating runs dedicated supply and exhaust ducts to every level of the home, with fresh-air pickups in living spaces and exhaust pickups in bathrooms and kitchens. Every install is balanced at commissioning.

Fresh Air for Tightly Built Southern NH Homes
Modern Southern NH homes are built tight, and older homes that have been air-sealed and insulated lose the natural air infiltration that older construction relied on for fresh air. Without mechanical ventilation, indoor air quality drops fast. Cooking, bathing, off-gassing from materials, and human respiration all add moisture and pollutants. A Lifebreath HRV or ERV brings fresh air in continuously while recovering the energy from the exhausted air, so your home stays healthy without driving up the heating and cooling bill.

HRV & ERV FAQ
What is the difference between an HRV and an ERV?
Both bring fresh outdoor air into your home while exhausting stale air. A Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) transfers heat between the two air streams, so the fresh incoming air is pre-warmed in winter and pre-cooled in summer. An Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) does the same with heat plus transfers moisture, which keeps the home from drying out in winter and prevents excess humidity in summer. ERVs are usually the better fit for tightly sealed Southern NH homes.
Who needs an HRV or ERV?
Newer homes built to modern airtight standards, weatherized homes that have been air-sealed and insulated, and any Southern NH home that feels stuffy, has window condensation, or has lingering cooking and bathroom odors. When natural air infiltration drops, mechanical ventilation becomes necessary to maintain healthy indoor air quality.
Why install a Lifebreath HRV or ERV?
Lifebreath has been manufacturing ventilation systems in North America for over 40 years. Their HRV and ERV cores recover up to 87 percent of the energy from outgoing air, which keeps utility costs low while moving fresh air through every room of the house.
How is an HRV or ERV installed?
The unit is mounted in a basement, mechanical room, or attic. We run dedicated fresh-air and exhaust ducts to each level of the home, connect to the outside through two roof or wall hoods, and tie the controls into your thermostat or a dedicated humidistat. A.J. LeBlanc Heating balances airflow at commissioning so every room gets the right amount of fresh air.
