Gas Space Heaters

When a Space Heater Makes Sense

Home Additions

Extending ductwork to an addition is often impractical. A direct-vent gas space heater delivers targeted heat to the new space without touching your main system.

Garages & Workshops

Heat your garage or shop to comfortable working temperature without running ducts or raising your whole-home heating load. Great for hobbyists and cold-weather projects.

Sunrooms & Three-Season Rooms

Convert a three-season room to year-round use with a wall-mounted gas space heater. Thermostatic control keeps it comfortable without heating unused spaces.

Backup Heat / Cold Zones

Basement apartments, in-law suites, and always-cold corners of older homes benefit from a dedicated space heater. It's cheaper than rebalancing ducts or zoning the whole house.

Direct-Vent Design

Safe, Efficient, Sealed Combustion

The gas space heaters we install are direct-vent, sealed-combustion units. They draw combustion air from outside through a concentric vent and exhaust outside through the same vent. No indoor air is used for combustion, no backdrafting, dramatically reduced carbon monoxide risk, and no ceiling or attic venting needed. Units mount on an exterior wall and vent directly through it for a clean install with no chimney required.

  • Natural gas and propane options
  • Wall-mount and freestanding cabinet designs

  • Through-the-wall direct-vent install, no chimney required

Common Questions

Gas Space Heater FAQ

Is a gas space heater safe indoors?

The direct-vent, sealed-combustion units we install are very safe. They bring combustion air in from outside and exhaust outside through the same concentric vent, so no combustion air or exhaust ever mixes with your indoor air. Non-vented space heaters are a different product and we don't recommend them for residential use.

Can a space heater be my only heat source?

For a small addition or apartment, yes, if sized correctly. For a whole house, a central system is more efficient and more comfortable. We'll help you figure out which approach fits your space and budget.

How efficient are gas space heaters?

Modern direct-vent gas space heaters are 75-82% efficient. Not as efficient as a high-efficiency furnace or boiler, but because they heat only the space you're in, they often cost less to run than zoning a central system.

Do I need to run a new gas line?

Usually yes. If there's an existing gas line nearby (water heater, stove, furnace) we can often tap off that. If not, we run a new line with proper sizing and pressure testing as part of the installation.

Will it work with propane?

Yes. All the models we install come in both natural gas and propane versions. If you're converting from NG to LP (or vice versa), we install the correct orifices and set gas pressure during installation.
