NH Energy Efficiency Loans in 2026: The Weatherization Loan and Other Options
Searching for the NH Residential Clean Energy Loan? It Is Closed
The New Hampshire Residential Clean Energy Loan, the 0% APR heat pump loan of $1,000 to $10,000 offered through NEIF and Eversource, is closed: the Eversource Clean Energy Fund dollars that backed it since its December 2022 launch are fully subscribed, applications have ended, and no reopening date has been announced. If you were planning to use it for a heat pump or heating upgrade in southern New Hampshire, you still have live options in 2026. The centerpiece is the NHSaves 0% Energy Efficiency Loan for weatherization and heating projects, alongside active NHSaves heat pump rebates, NH Electric Co-op member financing, and financing through A.J. LeBlanc Heating.
The closest live replacement: the NHSaves 0% Energy Efficiency Loan
The strongest option for most homeowners is the NHSaves Home Energy Performance (HEP) path, which pairs weatherization rebates with a 0% Energy Efficiency Loan through Eastern Bank:
- Loan amounts from $1,000 to $15,000
- Terms from 12 to 84 months at 0% interest
- Available for 1 to 4 family owner-occupied New Hampshire homes
- Covers heating equipment, central air conditioning, and insulation
- The HEP program also offers up to $6,000 in project rebates
The process starts with a home energy audit through your utility's NHSaves program; the audit identifies the eligible work and unlocks the rebates. One caveat: Eastern Bank is currently accepting loan applications only from Eversource customers, so confirm eligibility with your utility when applying.
NHSaves heat pump rebates for 2026
NHSaves rebates on qualifying air-source heat pumps remain active in 2026:
- $250 per ton standard rebate on qualifying air-source heat pumps
- An enhanced $2,000 per ton rebate when the heat pump replaces electric resistance heat, for installations completed after March 22, 2026
We verify equipment eligibility and handle the rebate paperwork on every qualifying installation.
NH Electric Co-op members: on-bill and rate-buydown financing
If your home is served by the New Hampshire Electric Co-op, two member financing options are open:
- On-bill 0% financing from $500 to $4,000 with terms up to 48 months
- Rate-buydown loans at 2% for amounts up to $15,000
Coming soon: federal Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates
New Hampshire's $34.7 million federal Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) program is expected to open in mid-summer 2026. Timing and final rules can shift, so treat it as a program to watch rather than one to plan a project around today. We track its status and share the latest during your consultation.
Financing through A.J. LeBlanc Heating
We also offer dealer financing on qualifying installations, which can fit projects or timelines the utility loans do not cover. Ask for current terms when you request an estimate.
A note on federal tax credits
The federal 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit and the 25D Residential Clean Energy Credit both ended for installations placed in service after December 31, 2025. Neither is available for new 2026 installations. The state and utility programs above are the active levers this year; see our rebates page for what currently applies.

The NHSaves Home Energy Performance path with the Eastern Bank 0% Energy Efficiency Loan: $1,000 to $15,000 over 12 to 84 months for 1 to 4 family owner-occupied NH homes, starting with a home energy audit. The loan is currently limited to Eversource customers; confirm when applying.
